Howard Glitch: [The Book] is the original piece of the multimedia jigsaw puzzle...
It is an allegorical novella that tells the story of a group of unfortunate passengers trapped on a spaceshuttle flight that is headed for a fatal destination.. The only person with the power to turn the shuttle around, is the Remote Driver, who has fallen asleep at the wheel, miles away in the safety of his space station. But not all of the passengers believe that this event is happening by accident, nor without purpose, and so what unfolds is a tense drama of survival, despair, and radically diverse perceptions of what is occurring.
The seed idea for The Book sprouted in late November 2009 literally out of nowhere. Within about 3 hours, the inspiration hit me for the entire plot skeleton, character attributes and an epic ending. Whilst the surface of the story began as a bleak one, the roots behind it went much deeper... I would only have to turn on my television set on any given night, to find a news story that would sit in parallel to my fictional book. It would be a headline tragedy that appeared purposeless, and was clearly out of the hands of the victims.
It is from a sincere place that I found the desire to explore this dark avenue, and still with sensitivity & compassion that I question such events... The design of Howard Glitch would not be to find the definitive answer to these unfortunate incidents, but instead bring forth a collage of ideologies and contrasting beliefs, that offers the reader a greater choice to decide how to react. My purpose was to place a FOX News Reporter and Zen Monk in the same space -so to speak- and just record as accurately as possible, each their own reactions, and interactions with one another.
Despite the obvious themes of human despair and claustrophobia, The Book also brings to the mix the Persian path of righteousness, the Zen art of surrendering, western existentialism, quantum mechanics, alchemy, and the power of the human spirit to create hope in a chronically hopeless space.
Inspirational writers ranges between the wisdom of Paulo Coelho and the suspense & intrigue of Michael Crichton. Michelle Paver and Neale Donald Walsch are also worthy of noting for their phenomenal media series.
The making of the published Book begins with a successful funding campaign on Kickstarter. Then the 30,000 word first draft will be refined within a few months, and published into physical form.
The audio book will also be recorded & released around the same time, and narrated by Henry Devas, a talented voice actor from the BBC (UK). He has recently been doing radio plays alongside Bill Nighy and Derek Jacobi.
The very final piece of the project is The Mosaic.
For anyone who buys for the first release of the physical book from our Kickstarter page, they will have a unique hand-drawn piece of art in the final page of their book... When the first release is complete and everybody has their copy of the book, a forum will be opened so that everyone can share their unique image. Together, the jigsaw of images will form a message that then leads to an online easter egg hunt for a hidden chapter not featured in the book.
